Here are a few images of my Vans & my shop The white one is my 95, the medium blue is our 93 with the bad transfer case.
The 1st image shows a recent 96 AWD that was from Yankee Land in my shop. It was a donor. It ran great but was rotted with Ferrous Oxide caused by winter road salt. I have the powertrain, tha bosy is long gone. Outside are our 93 & my 95.
The 2nd Image is a side shot of my sweet 95, yes it is pristine And runs quite well everywhere I go.
3rd image shows the 2+2 Interior, also pristine condition, remember this Van has 230K Miles on it.
4th image is of the 93 XLTN with the AWD & transfer case problems. We put a Factory Authorized rebuilt in the 93, in Winchester, VA It lasted about 20K miles and the chain broke destroying the case & causing me to use my road service insurance to get it home.
Beautiful vans, I didnt think there was some one else out there who has the same passion for these vans as I do. What kind of wheels are on the white one?
Nether quick question, How did you find this site?

Last question 1st = I was "lurking" for Aerostar Banter over FTE when I happened across your addy on that site which I used to frequent.
As for my wheels =, I prefer 15" to 14", I prefer wide to narrow, I've discovered Aeros' need plenty of Air Circulation to keep their brakes in good working order. I know the lug stud pattern is 5"X4.5" as are many FoMoCo P-Cars so I began checking out OEM Wheels. The wheels are off a late 80's Mercury Grand Marquis. I chose 'em because of their turbine design to feed the brakes fresh air keeping 'em cool & healthy.
An advantage to the Grand Marq' wheels is they are unpopular because they aren't really "trick" wheels so they remain relatively inexpensive in used parts market.
A word to the wise with them is suspension has got to be "primo". I do mean crisp & in good shape because these wide 15's will pretty much fill up your wheel wells. If you got Mushy shocks &/ saggy springs there may be rub issues on hard cornering or on sudden bumps (such as speed strips etc.) hard braking in turns or if you overload your Aero with people or frieght.
1 last point on later Aeros, 91 & up PCM should be EEC IV with OBD 1 system, which means it will recalibrate RAM to accomodate change the ESS ( Electronic Speed Sensor) picks up when new wheels & tires are installed that are different from OEM Spec. After 15 - 20 minutes of operation perceived changes are imbedded . Speedometer will be correct & system will accept change as the "new" norm. After 47 start ups the new characteristics of different size & rate become part of the OBD 1 system in your PCM. Thank goodness for that upgrade, huh? In the earlier days, like thru' 80's depending on which vehicle we are talking about it could scramble a PCM if such changes were made. But with the advent of OBD 1 & larger RAM Capacity et al, changes usually can be "digested" by the system. Early speed density EEC systems could actually quit by default whan something too radical was changed.
As for the passion, There are many of us across the nation, but we tend to be pragmatic, independent and dislike being treated poorly by people with less knowledge / insight than we have. There are some really great people on FTE pages in the Aerostar forum, but I abhor censorship or snooping, and talking behind peoples backs.
As president of Museum, Former Teacher, Instructor & Parent I do not see leadership as adversarial. I've learned to be democratic as opposed to being Autocratic or Lassei Fare. I believe ME = WE if flipped over. WE can accomplish a hell of a lot more than ME. You know, there's no I in team, so forth, and all that.
Guys on FTE like Copper, A4WD, Pablo, 96AWD & several others on FTE are all incredibly knowledgeable & informed about Aerostars,. They are also great guys, but they tolerate the poor treatment in due course. I really believe in 2 adages; "Do Unto Others" and "Live Free or Die", you know, within reason & the Law of course.
I hope this site catches on, I will support you & It and I will mention it around as I wander. I now got a hint of how the Pilgrims must have felt.
